Planned Parenthood: At Least They Don't Do Piercings

The state of Washington is in the midst of making piercings for minors illegal without parental consent.  Planned Parenthood has nothing to worry about - abortions will remain legal for minors without parental knowledge.  Check out this quote from the article:

Beyond health, Roach added, the law will prevent young people from a pain familiar to any man bearing a tattoo of his ex-girlfriend's name -- regret.

"We want to protect young people from decisions that may cause them disfigurement or consternation later in life," Roach said.

We are expected to protect young persons from the pain and scars of a piercing, but the pain and scars from an abortion is of little concern.

Even more telling is this quote by a nineteen year old that is very pleased that her parents did not allow her to follow through with her plan to get a tatoo at 14.  It seems she now recognizes that she was not mature enough to make the decision that could not be easily reversed:

Shelley Morin, 19, understands why.

The Olympia resident had her navel pierced at age 14, with her mom's permission. She had also wanted a tattoo of a butterfly, but her mother put her foot down.

"I'm so glad she did," Morin said. "It would have looked stupid."

Thats right, protect children from ink in the skin, but allow them to make a decision that could have life-long consequences without parental involvement.  Some scars heal longer than others.

Hmmm... hole in the navel versus killing a living human being. Which one do YOU think will require parental permission if the Washington state legislature has its way? Not what you'd think. The state of Washington currently has a bill floating around [Read More]

Hey Serge,
If you ever find being an OMF Surgeon boring - I think I found the perfect job for you.

Maybe you could implement your tolerance pledge.

Incredible irony, isn't it? Nice job, Serge.

Question: If the uterus of a female minor is perforated (pierced) during an attempted abortion, is the abortionist in violation of the parental consent legislation mentioned above?
